First seen on the Continental GT and GTC, Bentley now offers the Series 51 design options – 14 in total – on the Continental Flying Spur and Speed. These range from duo-tone exterior paint options to new interior color and trim combinations. Also, all Continental Flying Spur and Supersports models are specified as standard with a "state-of-the-art" 30GB touchscreen infotainment system.

Duo-tone means that, beside the main color applied to the body, there's also an accent color that runs from the bonnet to the boot lid..

Bentley says that the paint range "encompasses cool and crisp hues through to rich and fiery shades and everything in between", based on which additional three interior colors are selected to create a visual equilibrium between the exterior and the cabin.

Every Series 51 model also gets unique nine-spoke 19-inch alloys, finished in a cool graphite tone, complemented by Series 51 wing badges, positioned behind the front wheel arches. If that's still not enough, customers can specify their cars with blue brake calipers and black or chrome wing vents as well.

For the interior, Bentley's styling team operates on a "rule of three" principle; meaning that color and trim specialists begin with a main color, typically a darker shade, and then select a second, insert color. This is to provide an eye-catching contrast. Third is the accent color, which goes on the stitching and piping.

Series 51 interiors are made even more exclusive by specially chosen wood veneers and aluminum panels.

If a client doesn't find a suitable choice among the 14 available options of the Series 51, Bentley will be more than happy to create a new, bespoke one, as Melinda June-Jenkins explains:

"One of the most exciting aspects of the Series 51 designs is the feedback from Bentley customers and their desire to explore further what we can offer. Series 51 provides just a starting point and now we are creating designs which make an even stronger and more personal statement".

Last but not least, all Bentley Continental Flying Spur and Supersports coupe and convertible models are equipped with a new touchscreen infotainment system, with 30GB of capacity.

Audio system, telephone, ride and comfort settings are displayed on an 8-inch display, alongside navigation information. The GPS uses "dynamic navigation" to avoid heavy traffic spots and can locate destinations by using geo-tagged photos from an SD card.

Besides the six-disc CD changer, music can be played directly from an iPod, SD card and the hard drive, which can store up to 15GB of music.

Customers also benefit from telephone connectivity, digital television (where available) and DVD movie playback.

Classic Bentley Parts Bin on 8,000 Mile Journey Across the U.S.A.

Classic cars come with classic car problems. The sort of reliability we take for granted today was unheard of thirty years ago. Classic cars don't start in cold weather They overheat in hot weather. They leak brake fluid. Their wiper motors break. Bits of trim fall off them. Their clutches fail. Etcetera, etcetera, etcetera.

And it's not like you can take it down to your local mechanic and have them fixed. Parts are expensive or unavailable. In the days before eBay you had to go to swap meets and scrap yards in the hopes of finding the part you needed. It was Hell.

There is a light at the end of the tunnel though, at least for those who own a Bentley built between 1955 and 2002. To ease the burden on its U.S. aficionados, Bentley Motors is planning a road trip across the U.S.A., bringing with them over a thousand heritage parts and genuine accessories.

Dubbed the Bentley Heritage Roadshow, the idea is that Bentley owners will be able to get specialist and hard-to-find parts, as well as genuine accessories, direct from the original manufacturer. And if Bentley doesn't have the part you need on the day, then they can organize to have it shipped over from Crewe.

"Our task is to continue to provide these passionate owners and drivers with the service and parts they need." said Steve O'Hara, Director for After-Sales at Bentley.

Carrying everything from complete V8 engines to as-good-as-new owner manuals (still in their original packaging!), you're sure to find the right part for your Bentley.

The Roadshow starts its journey in California on September 16th, before passing through New Jersey, Maryland, North Carolina and Texas before finishing up in Florida on October 23rd. If you are a Bentley owner who would like to get his hands on some genuine parts, contact your local dealer for further details.

Overkill? Wald International's Bentley Continental Flying Black Bison

This time, Japan's Wald International has set its eyes on the Bentley Continental Flying Spur luxury sedan with the introduction of a Sports Line Black Bison styling package.

The makeover includes a new front bumper with added air vents and LED daytime running lights, side skirts, a revised rear bumper with -you-guessed it- air ducts and something that's supposed to resemble a diffuser, nifty quad-pipe exhaust and a rather subtle carbon fiber boot lid spoiler.

The package is completed by a set of trim spoilers on the front and rear side windows plus carbon fiber pieces on the B-columns, and Wald's own multispoke alloy wheels.

Paris Preshow: 2011 Bentley Continental GT Facelift Revealed, gains 4.0-liter V8 Engine

Having been introduced in 2003, Bentley's Continental GT is officially the oldest model in the British automaker's lineup. About time for a facelift? Bentley thought so, too. The 2011 Conti has been brought up to date with an evolved interior and exterior that put it more in-line with the brand's Mulsanne flagship, while a new 4.0-liter V8 engine will join the tweaked W12 in 2011.

Most noticeable in front are the gemstone headlights peeking out from behind newly-extended wings, moving the front fender / front bumper panel gap downward. Also, the grille surround has officially become part of the hood's lines and now houses the front license plate as well.

One can see a similar design in back, where Bentley utilized the Mulsanne's "double horse-shoe" theme. On either side of the boot, the rear fenders have gained some more definition and the car's taillights are slightly more squared-off. The overall package increases track width by 41-mm in front and 48-mm at the rear.

Now, onto the good part: engines (now plural!). Offered under the hood are now two forms of propulsion: 1) as usual, a big 6.0-liter twin-turbo W12 which creates 575 hp and 700 Nm / 516 lb-ft of torque and is FlexFuel-compatible (up to E85), and 2) for the first time in the model's run, a 4.0 V8 coming later in 2011 with emissions that Bentley claims are 40% lower than the W12.

With the extra 15 horsepower (and the car's weight reduced by 65 kg), the W12 is good for a 0-60mph (96km/h) burst in 4.4 seconds and a top speed of 198 mph / 318 km/h. Bentley is keeping its lips sealed about the 8-cylinder's output for now, but they say "high-output", so expect a screamer.

In the field of putting power to pavement, the revised 6-speed automatic transmission allows "double downshifts" while still running all four wheels; the 20- or 21-inch rollers now get 40/60 front-to-rear power distribution (versus the outgoing model, which was 50/50).

The interior, while clearly still Continental, gets updated as well: there's a spruced-up dash, a new touchscreen infotainment unit with a 30GB hard drive (15 GB specifically for music), and redesigned front seats that offer rear cargo an extra 46-mm of legroom. Sounds are brought to you by 11-speakers from Naim, and there is TV/DVD/Phone/iPod/etc. connectivity; pretty much everything one you'd expect in a Bentley.

Overall, Bentley has succeeded in updating its breadwinner while keeping it very identifiable and distinct. Expect to see it next to the Mulsanne in Paris, and as soon as there are some official numbers on the V8, we'll let you know. Now back to your regularly-scheduled daydreaming.
